Dreaming of a Green Christmas
Local Maitland business Northern Highland Travel will be doing its part to make
2011 a healthier year for our planet.
The coach and guide operators will be planting 1,267 native trees to offset its
emissions from the past 12 months.
As well as offsetting greenhouse gas this action will help improve water
quality, reduce soil degradation and provide essential habitat for native
species.
“The Northern Highland Travel team is really proud of our long history of being
an environmentally friendly organisation,” Managing Director Jenny Aitchison
said.
“Earlier this year we won the BusNSW 2010 award for Innovation and
Environmentalism, and we are determined to keep leading the state in 2011.”
“Coach Travel is the most economically sustainable form of tourism,
with the least emissions per passenger of any other form of transport. We
offer the opportunity for passengers to travel with a company without having to
consider whether, or not, they are harming the environment, as we have already
offset their emissions for them,” Mrs Aitchison said.
Northern Highland Travel operates domestic coach package tours all
over Australia and internationally, their luxury coaches are purpose built for
touring, and packages include great morning teas, excellent commentary, and a
diversity of destinations that many of the larger operators cannot offer.

Northern Highland Travel has been participating in the Greenfleet
programme for the past three years and has contributed to thousands of trees
being planted all over Australia.
