Time to Head North as the Colder Weather Comes (At Last)

4 March 2003

After the long hot summer, it is nearly time to start chasing the sun again. Our son Joshua asked me if he could wear some gloves last weekend for the first time in his life! As I put an extra blanket on my bed, Robert rang from Tasmania to tell me they saw snow in Hobart on Saturday, and the weather has been very cold throughout their stay.

This is the first real bout of cold weather we have struck going to Tasmania at this time of the year, but the sudden cold temperatures must have been fairly general, as Bruce and Elaine?s tour group heading off to Orange also got a bit cold on the first day. Once the initial shock of colder temperatures is over, and the air conditioning in the coach took over, it was very pleasant for a change (I wonder what we will all be saying in July after a few months of colder temperatures?).

Luckily later in the year, when we are sick of the cold, there are opportunities to travel in Queensland?s mild winter conditions, including our tours to Longreach & Carnarvon Gorge, O?Reilly?s & Binna Burra, Cairns & the Tropical North, the Rockhampton Tropical Adventure, and our new Brisbane Explorer tour. The weather up north has been much wetter than across NSW this year, and for the most part it will be nice to see a bit more green than we have been used to seeing down south.

The time to start booking these tours is now, to ensure that you don?t miss out. One of our tours to Longreach and Carnarvon Gorge is already nearly full, and the other tours to Cairns, Brisbane and Rockhampton are all half full. If you can?t wait until Winter starts and you like bushwalking, try our tours to Binna Burra & O?Reillys that start in May.
