What do the Terms"ppts" and "s/s" mean after the prices?
15 May 2003
PPTS stands for "Per Person Twin Share" and is the discounted rate we can offer to those who share a room whilst on tour. It is the price per person if there are two people sharing the room.
S/S means "Single Supplement" and is the additional amount that someone who does not have someone to share with must pay to cover the additional motel costs for their tour.
Coach companies do not like having to charge the Single Supplement, and we do not add any additional amount to the price we charge for a seat on our coach, just because only one person has booked. That is why we do not guarantee single seats on our tours. However, Motels charge this rate and so we have to pass it on to our passengers who are able to enjoy the benefits of a room for sole use.
On some of our tours where the Single Supplement for a particular sector of the journey is very high, we offer the price of sharing just for that sector (eg: on some of the boats). This means that for one night of the tour you share with someone else, rather than having to share every night.
We also try to match people up if they request it, however this is not always possible. In this case, if there is no-one else to share, the motels may sometimes waive the single supplement, however this is on a case by case basis, and if we were able to gain this relief from the single supplement for you, it would be in the form of a refund of any supplements not charged, paid at the completion of your journey.
